CDO Mommy Blogger Supports Nationwide Kilusang Kontra Kuto

12:03 AM 0 Comments
Nationwide Kilusang Kontra Kuto is a coalition of head lice prevention experts and advocates led by Lamoiyan Corporation's Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo, the Department of Education (DepEd), UP Manila College of Public Health, Mommy Bloggers Philippines, and Drugstores Association of the Philippines. This coalition aims to achieve a kuto-free Philippines.

The Nationwide Kilusang Kontra Kuto, now on its third year, aims to make a bigger impact and wider reach in order to eliminate kuto infestation problems in public schools. Their goal is to educate the public about the problem by visiting different schools in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

A study shows that "kuto infestation" is considered the second most common health problem in public schools in the Philippines next to tooth decay. Though it is not a fatal condition or life-threatening, the problem must be given attention since it affects the children's health, self-confidence, and decreases academic performance.

As a member of Mommy Bloggers Philippines, I join the cause in promoting awareness about this kuto infestation problem in our public school children. I also believed that this problem can also be solved by adhering to correct information and appropriate treatment and control methods. One of this is by using Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo as an effective solution to eliminate and prevent head lice in children.
Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo comes in 60ml bottles and 10ml sachets. It comes in two variants, the regular Licealiz, and the Licealiz Soothing Coolness. It is also available in leading supermarkets and drugstores nationwide.

If you want to support this advocacy or know more about the activities of Kilusang Kontra Kuto led by Lamoiyan Corporation's Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo, visit their Facebook Page at  https://www.facebook.com/licealiz today!

Shopping Adventures at mi Department Store at CityMall Bulua, Cagayan de Oro

11:28 AM 0 Comments
A week ago, I was invited to the opening of mi Department Store in CityMall Bulua here in Cagayan de Oro City. I am familiar with CityMall because I have been to their CityMall Mandalagan Branch in Bacolod City last year, but this was my first time hearing about this company. I learned that mi Department Store is a subsidiary of Expressions Stationery Shop, Incorporated. In which case, I am very familiar with this shop. I love their stores and I frequently visit them in Manila and in Bacolod. And now, aside from mi Department Store, they have Expressions here in Cagayan de Oro City now. So knowing that mi Department Store is new to my knowledge, I went there with excitement.

Visible and Accessible Location

CityMall Bulua Branch is located at the Opol-Bulua Diversion Road, Barangay Bulua, Cagayan de Oro. To make it more familiar, it is located near the Westbound Integrated Bus and Jeepney Terminal. If you ride any public transportation going there from the city, particularly jeepneys coming from Cogon Public Market, you are bound to see it immediately. The infrastructure definitely showcases its CityMall branding of red, white, and a little green.

Going inside from the main entrance, then turn left, you will see the cinema and then the entrance to mi Department Store. You will not miss it as the entrance is so big and very inviting.

Treasures in mi Department Store

The department store is not that big. In fact, you will be able to roam around it almost immediately. But! Don't be deceived! The place might be small but the contents are just amazing! All you need is to learn to browse around the racks to find their treasures! What do I mean by that? Well, simply put - affordable, stylish, and trendy items!!! Be it shoes, bags, accessories, and most specially apparels!!!

I went there with my daughter and some of my close friends from Keeping Up with the TERS, fashion and fitness blogger, Em Aban, and lifestyle and fashion blogger, Judy Teves. We were definitely amazed how fashionable and affordable the items are. Well, I am not that fashionable, though I know how to check out on trendy clothes, as a mommy blogger, I am definitely loving the affordable aspect of the place. Being a single mom to three children, buying clothes is not an easy feat for me. But if you find a place that fits your budget, all I can say, I definitely hit the gold mine!

Of course, I roamed around several times. I immediately hit the racks to find something for my children and also something for myself. And as expected, I found items that I know my children will definitely love!

My Shopping Finds

Let us start with my youngest. I bought her a pink expression t-shirt. The t-shirt may come out sarcastic, but my youngest daughter is not. She is a very frank person. She is sweet, friendly, but very honest. The t-shirt just shows a humor that we share within the family. Hahaha...

Then I bought a uniquely designed t-shirt for my son. He just celebrated his 15th birthday and I wanted him to own a trendy and stylish looking t-shirt. The size was just right for him.

And because my eldest daughter was with me, she saw something that she really liked. With no further delay, she placed it on our basket immediately!

Then lastly, I looked for something for myself. I am the t-shirt and jeans kind of mom, but because of my knowledge in the blogging and working from home industry, I have been invited several times as a resource speaker to which having a presentable dress is always a dilemma. So, I looked for a blouse and slacks that would fit my personality. And thank you! I found a stylish black blouse and black slacks that is to my liking. My friends and even my daughter agreed that my choice was excellent. to be honest, I can't wait to wear it to one of my future speaking engagements!

All of my choices are based on our preferences, its trendiness, and affordability. But you can see, I was not able to see them immediately. Because they only have a small place to display their items on mannequins, not all their beautiful items are shown. That is why, as I mentioned earlier, their treasures are all at the racks! You have to browse them meticulously to find the best and the most affordable find!

Staff and Payment Transactions

The sales staff are all friendly and accommodating. The security is strict. And the cashiers were fast and efficient. Paying for the items was swift and convenient. They accept both cash and credit cards.

Worth the Time and Money

My shopping adventures at mi Department Store in CityMall Bulua was definitely worth it. The time finding the right and fair-priced items for my children and I was something I really enjoyed. My budget was stretched for everyone to get something and the feeling was amazing!

As the gift-giving season approaches, I recommend that you visit mi Department Store in CityMall Bulua. I am sure you'll find something for everyone in there. Aside from the apparels, shoes, bags, and accessories, you will also find makeups, toiletries, toys, small appliances, and home furnishings. You will find something for each of your family and friends. Your budget will surely be stretched for all!!!

#10andFabulous - CDO Bloggers’ 10th Anniversary

6:26 PM 0 Comments
It was around 2008 when I got an email from Chic Montes inviting me to take part in the formation of a local blogging community. But I have to decline because this was the time I went back to Bacolod City for personal reasons. During that time, Chiq Montes, Michael Abonitalla, and many others formed the SEC-registered Cagayan de Oro Bloggers, Inc. or better known as CDO Bloggers. The formally formed the first and only blogging community in Cagayan de Oro City. And from that moment on, knowledge, friendship, and social responsibility abound. The org has successfully promoted Cagayan de Oro to the world.

Fast forward to 2018, finally, the year has come for us to celebrate our 10th year anniversary. The planning stage was easy but the execution was a bit of a challenge. But all in all, though it was not perfect, it was successfully executed thanks to the wonderful officers and sponsors who made everything possible!

The D-Day: November 17, 2018

Theme

“Rebels in Black & Gold: The CDO Bloggers 10th Anniversary Bloggers Ball” was the much-awaited event for us CDO Bloggers. Just like the food tour we have planned two years ago, this was also two years in the making. And that night, all finally come into completion!

Hosts

The program was hosted by Edelma Cortez (VP for Social Media) and Edu Ragpala (P.R.O.). Both have been very entertaining and accommodating hosts. They provided laughter and smooth transition of the program.

Welcoming Remarks

We started with a welcoming remark delivered by yours truly. We were very thankful that night because it didn't rain. The night was amazing and the breeze was very cool.

Yours truly, Ruby Caberte, CDO Bloggers VP for Events

Raffles Galore

Then followed with a lot of raffling off prizes in between programs. We were saturated with raffles because we had a lot of gift certificates to share. Thanks to our generous sponsors: Ororama Supercenter, Centrio Mall, StreetBy, and N Hotel!

Dinner
Then after a while, we had our dinner. Restaurant Damaso gave us a sumptuous dinner by setting up their signature crostini buffet! So far, they are the only restaurant I know here in CDO who does one. So far, I am loving it! The setup is not only delicious-looking, but it is actually delicious!!! And thanks to Smart Communitcations, Inc. through Ms. Judee Chavez, for providing a porchetta which complimented the crostini buffet!

Live Music Accompaniment

As we eat our dinner, we were serenaded by CDO's homegrown band Rockaholic to which the keyboardist is one of the pioneering members of CDO Bloggers - Richard Badlisan.

History of CDO Bloggers

After our sumptuous dinner, Michael Abonitalla, Chairman of the Board, gave a history of how Cagayan de Oro Bloggers came to be. It was followed by a short AVP of photos who CDO Bloggers through the years.

Guest Speaker
While waiting for his name to be called, Cong. Rufus laughed wholeheartedly as he enjoyed our program.

Our special guest that night was Congressman Rufus B. Rodriguez of the Second District of Cagayan de Oro City. It was my first time seeing and hearing him in person. And I was totally impressed, aside from his credentials, he was very down to earth and humorous. His speech was not long but very on-point, timely, and very relevant for us bloggers and social media influencers. He was also accommodating as we took group photos with him.

After his speech, he ate dinner and continually listened to our program.

Special Awards
Every year-ender events, we at the CDO Bloggers, give out special awards to all members. This year was different as we gave out awards to non-members who attended the event as well.

KC and Alvin of The Explorer's Channel won the May Forever sa Blogging Award

Lee Tan of Manolo Fortich Bloggers Association and our very own Germz Nabua won the Best Dressed Male and Female Award

And the most exciting part was the announcement of the CDO Blogger of the Year. Just like last year, the winner was taken from the votes of all members. And the winner was CDO Mommy Blogger, Ruby Caberte! Yay! That's me! Thank you so much to all the members who voted for me and believed in me. Thank you so much!!!

And of course, we also gave out prizes to the most active pioneer and non-pioneer/non-officer bloggers, the Most Active Youngest Blogger, and several other special awards.

The most excited winner of the night was the grand prize raffle winner Ms. Edelma Cortez. She won an overnight stay for two at N Hotel!!!

Closing Remarks
To cap the night off, our current president Ms. Maia Fortich Poblete gave a thankful speech to everyone. She shared how the event came to be, the challenges we encountered, and the thankfulness of our hearts for everyone who attended and supported our event.
